When you’re little and carefree you don’t spend a whole lot of time planning the tiniest details of your life. You’re biggest worry is what time Arthur comes on or whether or not you will be able to have a sleepover this weekend. You spend you’re time playing Barbie’s, house or showing off your dance moves to your sister’s Backstreet Boys CD.
But does what you do with your time as child tell something about your life? My sister spent her time telling other people how to play and now for a living she teaches autistic kids how to play. One of my brothers has broken his arm several times and I think it’s fair to say that he spent half of his childhood in the Doctor’s office. What does he want to do? Be an orthopedic surgeon. As for me, I did lots of things. I bossed my best friends around, played that I had several kids, pretended to be a teacher, and drew countless pictures of my hand with the title “This is my hand. I LOVE my hand.” So what does that say about me? My parents will tell you that since I’ve discovered my love of Sign language recently my love for hands came honestly. They say that I’ll probably teach sign language or something. Who knows?
I’ll think about it and let you know when I’ve decided….but, I’m pretty sure it’s not time for me to grow up yet.
